We had some family photos taken recently, and we just got them back this weekend. I am so pleased with how well they turned out, so I thought I would share a few of them with all of you! In the past, I have taken Brianna to Sears or Wal-Mart for her annual photos, but I thought I would do something a little more special since the twins were turning one this year. I also figured it would be a good idea to just combine all 3 girls annual shots to save money. We live in an area of the city with lots of old-growth trees, so we decided to have the shots done at the park across the street from our house.
This one turned out quite nice, considering it was hard to get the twins to look at the camera.
The twins can stand if they are holding on to something (but haven't started "cruising" yet). Even so, Mike and I still had to prop them up by their bottoms. We were trying not to show our arms! Kaitlyn on left, Ainsley on right.
We got a few really good ones of just Brianna... our little model! She was getting right into the posing thing, and started coming up with some wacky positions! This one was my idea!
This is Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada. There is so much to be thankful for -- as a person, a family, a neighbour, a community, and a nation.
Today, I cooked turkey dinner for my family -- which I usually do at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, but I usually cheat with stuffed turkey breasts that are ready in 1 1/2 hours. This time, I did the full-on 15 pound turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts with bacon/orange/mustard sauce, green beens with sage/walnut butter, carrots with butter and parsley, gravy and, of course, cranberry sauce. I also made a salad to start: spinach salad with goat cheese, cranberries and toasted pecans with a vinagrette dressing. YUM! Even the twins were able to join us for dinner... last year, they were less than a month old!
Amazingly, everything went smoothly! I had everything ready on schedule, and I felt under control. Mike helped by taking care of the kids, and when my Mom showed up, she helped him too. I made the same dishes for Christmas last year (except with the stuffed turkey breasts), but it was chaotic! Don't know what I did differently -- I had my flight class this morning until 11, got home around noon.... who knows. Maybe I'm polishing my culinary skills as I do this more and more.
Our good deed for the day: Our next door neighbour was facing Thanksgiving alone since his wife and kids were away visiting his MIL. We have lived in this house for 4 years, and have never invited them over, but I just couldn't stand the idea of him warming up beans on toast for Thanksgiving. I had Mike call over, and our neighbour was happy to accept. He and his wife are much older than us, but we get along very well. He was thankful for a good meal, and I was thankful that we had plenty to share!
I hope all of you out there can take a moment to count your blessings... even the wee ones! Happy Thanksgiving!
Everytime we go to visit my sister, it's for a birthday, holiday, or some other function. Our husbands have been getting frustrated that there's never any time for them to do the fun things that they would like to plan, so we came up with Uncle Day! The boys brought out their scale model rockets and had a blast! Hee hee.
Mike showing Brianna how to launch the rocket. She would not take her fingers out of her ears... even when we told her the rocket would not be going off yet!
Mike's rocket. It was amazing how high those things could go!
The parachute successfully deployed.
A very fun day had by all! The boys launched their rockets many times, and my brother-in-law flew his model glider too! I especially liked the sicky cinnamon buns that my sister made for snack. Yum!
