Ainsley slept through the night for 3 nights in a row, but for the last 3 or 4 nights she's been back to waking up 4 or 5 times a night. GRRRRRR. All she needs is her sucky and she falls back asleep for a little while.
We have considered almost every possible variable: Was the room too hot? Too cold? Did we not burp her enough after her last bottle? Should we prop her wee dolly close to her face to keep the sucky in? Is it merely a coinsidence that the 3 nights she slept matched the days the twins had different formula (the store I buy from was out of their brand so I bought a can of the closest substitute)?
We plan to leave the door to the twins' room open tonight to see if airflow helps her sleep (although the door was closed the times she slept) and Mike has suggested I buy another can or 2 of the substitute formula. I have nothing against the sub formula, I have simply been buying the same brand the hospital provided for the top-up bottles the twins needed after the breast. As a matter of fact, the sub formula is a few dollars cheaper (and that's a lot when you go through a $29.00 can every 3 days), and the twins' poops were not greenish-black and sticky (they went back to dijon mustard yellow and seemed easier to pass).
Can't believe I'm sharing poop info.
Anyway, I'm open to suggestions as long as it's not the same as the one my husband came up with. He'd like to invent some kind of skin safe duct tape to secure the sucky in place. The idea sounds so much better at 4 AM.
I never thought I'd say this, but I'm proud to say that Kaitlyn is a thumbsucker! For the last few weeks, she has been able to sleep right through the night -- we have to wake her up in the morning -- all because she found her thumb! Ainsley has had only one good night... who knows maybe hell was a wee bit chilly that night.
Kaitlyn only sucks her thumb at night in her crib, but I did catch her sucking it in her swing the other day:
Ahhhh... sweet silence. Now if only Ainsley could relax her fists long enough to figure out she has portable suckies too!
We broke Brianna of the habit... we can deal with this issue later!
